HL-House was built on a land of 4x18m located in a small alley in Binh Thanh, Ho Chi Minh City. This place is an area near the city center, with many conveniences for commuting to work. However, as an old residential area near the center, the alleys are very small with dense construction density and limited drainage, which makes the living quality in the area not high.

The owner of the house is a young family of 3, with the desire to have a living space filled with natural light and ventilation. With a narrow facade of less than 4m across, the solution chosen by the architects is a large atrium in the middle of the house, ensuring light for all rooms, and the last floor of the house ensures adequate natural ventilation. for the House.

With the criterion of sufficient room area, almost 1/3 of the house construction area is reserved for the atrium. Wooden stairs with steel structure, the corridor in front of the room is made of wood, red bricks for the entire wall of the atrium area, this is like a space connecting all areas of the house, all rooms are can communicate with each other through this space.

The ground floor starts with the entrance hall, the space for the piano, the main space is the kitchen, the bar behind the house, the dining table is located in the middle of the skylight. Meanwhile, the living room is moved to the mezzanine floor to free up less space for the ground floor, which is also consistent with the split-level layout of the house, creating a lot of lively space in the house.

All functional spaces in the house are exposed to natural ventilation, light and access to trees, this is also the desire of the owner from the beginning.

Limited area and accessible space is probably a common disadvantage of townhouses in Vietnam, especially in old residential areas. To create a real living space, bringing wind and sunshine into the house is only possible by sacrificing a part of the building area. The design team contributes to creating that space, and the owner is the one who completes it into a true home.
